Dispute settlement

If you consider that the Registrant of a .RU domain name infringes upon your legitimate rights and/or interests related to the domain name use, we advise that you contact domain name Registrant.
The information on the Registrant and the domain name which is available to an unspecified set of persons can be accessed via the Whois service.

Full information on the domain Registrant which contains all its details and is stored in the domain name database may be provided by the Registrar only upon requests submitted by the law-enforcement and judicial authorities in the case and under the procedure as provided for in the laws in effect in the Russian Federation.

To have an existing dispute settled, if it refers to ownership or use of a .RU domain name, we advise that you make use of the following options in the running order as specified below:

  • Settle the dispute between the parties involved independently by negotiations.

  • Address for help an entity specialised in providing mediator/legal services.

  • Go to the Arbitration Panel for Information Disputers with the Internet Operator Union or to the Arbitration Panel with the Association of Documentary Telecommunications after entering into a preliminary-validity arbitration agreement (an agreement between the parties in dispute on dispute settlement by one of the said arbitration panels).

  • If the laws on competition or advertising are broken, go to the Ministry of Anti-Monopoly Policy (Competition and Advertising Department).

  • In case it proves impossible to settle the dispute in the said ways, use for the protection of your rights and legitimate interests a trial court of general jurisdiction or the Arbitration Tribunal. We advise to you, when doing so, to become thoroughly aware of the terminology used in the Domain Name Registration Schedule, so as to formulate correctly your stated claims.

Please, note that the entities engaged in domain registration are not sued as parties involved in any domain name disputes.

If needed, the registrar entities shall provide to the court on an interested partys solicitation reliable information on domain name registration.
Besides, within the dispute hearing process, domain right assignment might be forbidden, but only provided the procedure in place under the laws in effect is complied with: i.e. when the interested party involved in the proceedings sends an appropriate judicial document at the registrar entitys address.
