Mail server basic settings

To connect to the mail server use the following settings:

Server setting Server name Connection port Encrypted connection port (SSL)
IMAP inbox mail server mail.r01.ru 143 993
POP3 inbox mail server mail.r01.ru 110 995
SMTP outbound message server mail.r01.ru 587, 25 or 2525 465

You should use SMTP authorization with the same login and password as for mail.

As a user name the full name of the mailbox is specified. For example, info@your_domain.

POP3 (Post Office Protocol Version 3) is used by the mail client to get email messages from the server. When receiving letters by mail client via POP3 protocol all accessing letters are copied to the user's protocol and, deleted from the server, if «Save messages on server» option is not set during client setup. Furthermore, only letters stored in Inbox folder on the server are available by this protocol. For this reason the contents of other folders (for example, "Spam") will not be copied to the user's computer. The contents of these folders are accessible through the web interface.

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) similarly to POP3 serves to handle inbox letters, but in contrast to it, it is oriented to server-side mailbox operations. Mail program using this protocol gets access to correspondence repository on the server, as if this correspondence is located on the recipient's computer. Emails stored on an IMAP server can be manipulated from a desktop computer without the need to transfer messages or files back and forth between these computers. However, if no Internet connection is available new letters may become unavailable, whereas the client generally reads them from server at the moment of viewing.
