How does PHP work at hosting?

PHP in FastCGI mode is available at new servers with PLESK 9.x (*) control panel

  • This mode DOES NOT provide for creating local PHP settings (php_value, php_flag) by .htaccess tools
  • PHP settings can be changed only under request sent to the technical support department or by personal button "PHP.ini editing" in Plesk control panel
  • HP scripts work under the client user name
  • All files and folders created by PHP tools get the client user name

PHP as Apache module (mod_php) mode is available at old servers

  • The mode provides for defining local PHP settings (php_value, php_flag) by .htaccess tools
  • PHP scripts work under the web server name (www).
  • All files and directories which need to have write (create/edit) access shall be given 777 permissions by using FTP/SSH/PLESK tools.
  • All files created by PHP tools will have www owner.
  • By default, the files created by PHP tools cannot be edited (changed/deleted) via FTP/SSH/PLESK access unless 777 permissions are given to them via PHP scripts. This script can help you to set 777 permissions to all such files.
