My website is infected with virus. How could this happen and what should I do?

Usually the problem is caused by malware (Trojan horse virus) which attacked your PC exploiting various security defects (probably, Internet Explorer vulnerability), got access to your FTP connection and changed the content of your website pages.

In this case, the following actions shall be taken to remove the virus:

• Check your local PC (used for operating your website) for viruses.
• Find and delete links to malware resources from your website code (as a rule, links are located at the end of pages in iframe tags)
• Change the control panel password and FTP user password.

It is recommended to take the following actions to prevent such situation from occurring in the future:

• Timely install all necessary updates for the software used by you
• Update the local anti-virus software databases
• Use firewall;
• Never open unknown files received by e-mail;
• Never store the website access passwords in FTP clients.
