Confirming data with the Certification Authority

With DV certificates providing domain validation, you can verify domain ownership by placing a TXT record in the DNS zone.

The content of the record will be sent to the contact email address indicated in the contract form after the order for the certificate is placed.

TXT-type record is typically used for domain name's text description. The TXT record that must be entered in the DNS has the following format:

domain. TXT %dns_string%

where:

dns_string is a variable that is generated by a Certification Authority.

domain is a domain name without www.

If the domain is delegated to the R01 DNS servers, the TXT record will be added automatically.

The Certification Authority's software will check the availability of this record within 24 hours and, as soon as it finds the record, the certificate will be issued.
