Which checks are performed at delegation?

The following items are being checked prior to delegation:

The indicated DNS servers are authoritative for the domain name.
SOA and NS records are available on them.
List of NS records matches the list of DNS servers.

You can independently check correctness of DNS servers settings with nslookup command.
